The Mist Channel

The Mist Channel follows a narrow stretch of pale water as it disappears between dark wooded banks. Trees on the left dissolve gradually into low cloud, while the smooth green foreground is interrupted only by a few small reeds and floating marks near the edge. The softened distance gives the scene an absorbing, almost silent atmosphere.

Deep olive and forest green are balanced by misty grey, soft cream and a muted area of warm earth along the lower edge. These restrained colours work naturally with warm white, stone, dark green and neutral interiors, alongside oak, walnut, linen, wool and aged brass.
