The Distant Headland

A dark headland recedes into blue-grey mist above a broad stretch of quiet water. Soft horizontal bands move across the foreground, interrupted only by a single rounded rock near the lower edge. The softened horizon and fading land create a strong sense of distance, weather and stillness.

Slate blue, charcoal, smoke grey and muted teal form a deep tonal palette with very little sharp contrast. These cooler shades work especially well with warm white, olive, mushroom and pale grey interiors, balanced by natural oak, walnut, linen, wool and softly textured stone.
